I build products that help people do their work.

I've spent over 15 years writing code and leading the teams who write it, on everything from conservation tools to payments. Today I'm AI Lead at Mindera and founder of Kronflow. Before that I was CTO at PlatformE and Head of Engineering at Switch.

01

Gen AI across the PDLC

How we're bringing generative AI into the whole product development lifecycle at Mindera, from best practices to training and coaching.

02

AI agents in real codebases

What I've learned using agents on real projects, and how they're changing the developer's job. I've written about the hurdles too.

03

Shape Up in practice

I introduced it at PlatformE to speed up delivery. Happy to share what stuck and what didn't.

04

Engineering through an acquisition

I ran engineering at Switch through its acquisition by SaltPay, then helped bring our product and team into the larger company.

How I like to work

  1. Think about the people who'll use it.

You are not your user, and people don't always ask for what they need. That's why I care so much about UX.

  2. Fixed time, flexible scope.

When I can, I use Shape Up: decide how much time something is worth, then shape the work to fit.

  3. Stay hands-on.

I still write code, at work and on Kronflow.

  4. Ruby on Rails by default.

It's my first choice for building products, but I go with what suits the team. At PlatformE I learned Django instead.
